Biggest Big Ole Tomato in Pickens County Contest The tomato must be grown in Pickens
County (That’s it!) Over the
course of eight weeks this summer,
there will be a weekly winner announced at the Saturday Morning Farmers
Market. Those winners are listed below.
The Pickens County Master Gardeners would like thank everyone who
participated in the first annual Biggest Big Ole Tomato in Pickens County contest.
The contest was a great
success and lots of fun and we look forward to this summer's competition
starting the first Saturday following July 4th. |

Congratulations to our Grand Prize
Winners for 2003: Mable Brown won with her 23" entry in
the Longest Squash Contest during the week of August 2, beating out all other
entries this summer by several inches.
Eugune Stewart looks mighty proud of his trophy for the 2 lb, 8.5 oz
Beefmaster tomato he entered in the Biggest Tomato Contest for the week of
August 9. Both Grand Prize Winners
received an impressive trophy, a box of plant fertilizer, and lots of
admiration from fellow gardeners for growing some of the largest vegetables
in Pickens County. The Pickens County
Master Gardeners would like to thank each and every person who participated
in the contests this year for such a great success! Congratulations to all the winners this
year!! |
